Tyres are essential for safe driving. They are the contact between your vehicle and the road, and have four very important functions in regards to driving:

1) The grip they provide for breaking and acceleration,

2) Allows the driver to maintain control while driving,

3) Supports the heavy weight of the vehicle, and

4) Act as a shock absorber from the vibrations of the road.

Tyre tread is the grooved outer rubber layer of your tyre, that makes contact with the road or ground. The rubber compound is designed to grip the road, resist general wear and tear, and cope with high temperatures generated by friction. Having enough tread is very important to keeping you safe in all conditions.
