Knowing what to look for-misaligned wheels
Checking your wheel alignment is not usually listed as part of a vehicle’s regular maintenance. Some experts feel that wheel alignment should be checked in certain instances.
A couple of these instances are:
- When there are obvious signs of misalignment (such as vehicle consistently pulls to one side).
- If a vehicle has been in an accident, especially if the impact was in the front. Sometimes even hitting a pothole or a curb can throw off the alignment.
Tyres that are wearing more rapidly, severely or unevenly, are some indicators to check wheel alignment .
When a tyre is replaced checking wheel alignment is important, especially if the previous tyres wore prematurely or unevenly.
Another thing to note is your wheels direction. If the wheels are not pointed in the right direction, the tyres will be exposed to too much stress. This will speed up wear.
